Founder and Managing Director of PBS Communications, Inc., Petal  Barclay-Smith has over ten years experience in Journalism and several years of Public Relations practice in the Caribbean.

Petal holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Mass Communication with First Class Honors and was reading for her Masters Degree in Public Relations.

She has a wealth of experience in Journalism, covering General Elections, interviewing Members of Parliament and candidates, reporting on Parliamentary debates, current affairs news, covering investigative stories and writing features, sports and business articles.

Petal is an acclaimed and respected Journalist whose work has encompassed every facet of the profession. She has been a reporter and an assistant editor for both weekly and daily newspapers and her dynamic and dramatic writing styles have been praised by many.

Furthermore, Petal has been held in high esteem by her readers for her ability to write clear, concise, objective and accurate materials quickly, for having a good general knowledge, and for her interest in current affairs and politics.

Her career in Public Relations included creating and disseminating news releases to the media, pitching stories to editors, planning and organising media conferences, seminars, workshops and special events, designing and producing newsletters, constructing and managing website and social media, managing interactions with the media, developing good community relations, and monitoring and ensuring the successful implementation and execution of several youth projects.

As a member of Cable and Wireless Toastmasters Club, Petal can be described as an enthusiastic toastmaster. She exemplified the toastmasters promise especially where it says “To prepare all speeches and assignments to the best of  your ability based on the manual”. She was selected for the “Spirit of Toastmasters” Award at the Club’s 2008 Awards and Installation Ceremony, and was also one of the emcees at the ceremony.  Petal was recently awarded the Advance Communicator Bronze (ACB) certificate from Toastmasters International and was judged the Speaker of the Year, July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010 from the Cable and Wireless Toastmasters Club.
